Mahner Labs Adoption Process

Reserving a Puppy

We take applications through GoodDog, ask and we will send you the link! We accept a limited number of deposits non-refundable reservation fees for our waitlist of $50. Once a breeding/pregnancy has occurred we require an additional non-refundable deposit of $250. If the litter is born when you inquire, deposits are the total $300. The deposits go towards the total purchase price. Typically we do not accept more than 2 or 3 deposits per gender on a litter. The order a deposit is received determines which puppies you may choose from. If you have 1st pick female, you are able to choose from all available females. In a litter of four males, if you have 4th pick male, your pup will be the remaining available pup. However, this does not mean you're stuck with a puppy no one wanted. Every time someone comes to pick out a puppy, they usually spend most of the time being uncertain on which to choose, they all look and act very similar!

We accept deposits in cash, check, CashApp, GoodDog, Zelle, Venmo or PayPal (buyer is responsible for app fees). If we cannot provide you with a puppy, you have the option of a deposit refund, different gender, or moving your deposit to a different litter. If you choose to put the deposit towards a different litter, you are still responsible for the remaining deposit amount if that litter cost is higher than the current one.

Visitation

Puppies are not allowed to be visited until they've had their first set of vaccinations, this is typically between 6-8 weeks of age. We no longer allow meeting of the adult dogs until AFTER a breeding is confirmed, some people choose to meet the parent dogs and place a deposit at the same time. This is put in place because we may expect a female to have a cycle in a month, but she could be several months late, and well out of your timeframe for a new furry friend. When you are scheduled to come visit, please think of it as an appointment, your set time is the time we expect you'll be there. Communication is key, please let us know if you're going to be a few minutes late.

Early Puppyhood

Our puppies come with a one year health guarantee for genetic and congenital conditions. They receive their first set of shots, a microchip, at least four rounds of de-wormer, and daily attention and exposure to sights an sounds. Our puppies are exposed to chickens, ducks, cows and goats! We play a desensitizing playlist when the puppies eat to help expose them to noises they will hear in day-to-day life. We may also practice gun training at a safe distance, a  great way to get your hunting partner prepared for hunt life.

Puppy Packs

Each litter we do our best to provide puppy packs with goodies and toys for you to take home with your puppy. It is not the same each litter, although we try to keep it with a similar amount of items. Here is an example of what a Puppy Pack may have: Current kibble sample, bone/chew, toy/stuffy, wet food, blanket, canned pumpkin kibble topper, treats, decal sticker for car, folder with AKC papers, veterinary record, health guarantee, microchip, 30 days Trupanion insurance, information about puppies, copies of contracts/receipt, etc. We are going to try to include Mahner Labs merch in 25'.

Puppy Pickup Day

Timing is very important on puppy take home day. Throughout the day we are washing puppies, trying to keep them from getting dirty again, nail trims, de-worming, puppy bag packing, you name it! If you are scheduled to come at 10:00am, please be there at 10:00am. I have had people show up two hours early, and two hours late. If you are early, we may still be in the process of washing or drying your puppy. If you are late, you may be showing up when we have other puppy owners arriving. We can be flexible but please tell us your ETA (estimated time of arrival) that your GPS says, this gives us a better idea on when your pup needs to be ready for his new family. On pickup days we ONLY accept cash, we will not accept any other form of payment.
